    Employing bisimidazolyl compounds as guests, a new type of [2] and [3]pseudorotaxanes based on beta-cyclodextrin were synthesized and characterized. From the crystallographic structural analysis and H-1 NMR spectroscopy it has been found that the number of threaded cyclodextrin depends on the length of the guest molecule. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd.
