Three new metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) based on a new organic ligand, 3,5-bis(3,5-dicarboxylphenxoy)benoic acid (H5L), [Cd5L2(H2O)6]∙4H2O∙6DMF}n (1), [Zn5L2(H2O)5]∙11H2O∙8DMA}n (2) and [Zn3L(H2O)3(OH)]∙12H2O∙8DMF}n (3), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, TGA and FTIR. 1 exhibits a (4,8)-connected 3D networks with Schläfli symbol of (410∙615∙83)(45∙6)2
