Silica phenyl sulfonicacid (SPSA) was prepared and effectively used in the one‐pot synthesis of 2‐aryl‐1‐arylmethyl‐1H‐1,3‐benzimidazoles from o‐phenylenediamine with aldehydes in water in the presence of tetrabutyl ammonium bromide with good to high yield.
