Synthesis of polycarboxylic acids of adamantane series
摘要:
Substituted 3-carboxymethyl-1-adamantanecarboxylic acids were obtained by the reaction of Koch-Haaf from the corresponding 1-adamantylacetic acids. A number of polycarboxylic acids was synthesized, containing carboxyl and carboxymethyl groups in their structure in various combinations.

A series of triesters of 3,5-bis(carboxymethyl)-1-adamantanecarboxylic acid have been synthesized and their physicochemical and thermo-oxidative properties have been studied. The properties of the obtained triesters have been compared to those of trioctyl trimellitate, which is used as a plasticizer and a component of various lubricating materials.

A convenient procedure has been developed for the synthesis of mono- and dihydric cage alcohols from adamantanecarboxylic acids and their esters using the MnO2-H2SO4 system. The reaction at elevated temperature involved both decarboxylation and decarbonylation of the initial acid or ester.
