Abstract Thiamine hydrochloride (VitB1) has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the multicomponentsynthesis of highlyfunctionalizedtetrahydropyridines from the reaction of β-ketoester, aromatic aldehydes and anilines. VitB1 is easily available, cheap, and eco benign. Graphical Abstract
