Abstract The synthesis and structural studies in solid state of new 1,5-bis(4-cyano-2,6-dimethoxyphenoxy)-3-oxapentane 1 and 1,5-bis(4-cyano-2,6-methoxyphenoxy)pentane 2 are presented. The observed complicated network of intermolecular interaction with participation of nitrile groups could play a role in their interaction with the biological target.
