A novel one-pot, convergent method is described for pyrrolizines by simple mixing of iminoesters, acetylenes, and dipolarophiles in the presence of a cationic gold catalyst and an acid additive. This domino process affords multisubstituted pyrrolizines without handling unstable intermediates.
