  芳基1-氯烷基亚砜与i - PrMgCl在THF中在低温下以定量收率生成镁类胡萝卜素。发现镁类胡萝卜素可与N-硫代烷基胺反应，以中等收率得到烯烃，该烯烃衍生自镁类胡萝卜素的二聚作用。另一方面，镁类胡萝卜素与N-取代的N的反应-硫代芳基胺以良好的收率得到未稳定的α-氨基取代的碳负离子。研究了α-氨基取代的碳负离子与某些亲电试剂的反应性，发现氯甲酸乙酯反应生成α-氨基酸衍生物的收率很高。总体上，实现了一种由芳基1-氯烷基亚砜单锅三组分联合合成α-氨基酸衍生物的新方法。
