Aryltributyl- and aryltrimethyl-stannanes react with a range of N,N-dialkylmethylene-imonium salts to afford N,N-dialkylaminomethyl derivatives in good yields. The catalytic enantioselective arylation using chiral dicationic palladium complexes provides a reliable and useful access to enantiomerically enriched mandelic‐acid derivatives. Significantly low catalyst loading (down to 0.002 mol %) as well as easy catalyst handling are the advantage of this practical method.

A method for the palladium-catalyzedsilylation of arylchlorides has been developed. The method affords desired product in good yield, is tolerant of a variety of functional groups, and provides access to a wide variety of aryltrimethylsilanes from commercially available arylchlorides. Additionally, a one-pot procedure that converts arylchlorides into aryl iodides has been developed.
