Dinuclear Ni complexes supported by naphthyridine‐diimine (NDI) ligands catalyze the reductive cyclopropanation of alkenes with CH2Cl2 as the methylene source. 1,1-Dibromocyclopropanes underwent rapid reduction to the corresponding monobromides in high yields on treating with LiAlH4-1 mol% silver perchlorate in THF, presumably via a silver-catalyzed radical chain mechanism.

The results show that (N-salicylidene)anilinederivedSchiffbasecomplexes of MTO displayed higher catalytic activity and selectivity than di-nitrogen Schiffbasecomplexes of MTO. No diol byproduct formation is observed.
