A light-diffusible methacrylic resin composed of 80 to 99.9% by weight of a polymer (A) forming a continuous phase and 20 to 0.1 % by weight of a polymer (B) forming a dispersed phase is disclosed. Polymer (A) is a polymer prepared from methyl methacrylate by itself or a polymerizable unsaturated monomer mixture containing at least 80% by weight of methyl methacrylate; polymer (B) is a polymer prepared from at least one polymerizable unsaturated monomer represented by the general formula [I]:
in which R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R2 is a hydrocarbon radical having at least 2 carbon atoms or a derivative thereof. Alternatively polymer (B) may be a polymerizable unsaturated monomer mixture containing at least 50% by weight of at least one polymerizable unsaturated monomer represented by the general formula [I]. The polymer components A and B are selected such that the ratio of the refractive index nB of the polymer (B) to the refractive index nA of the polymer (A) is in the range of 0.950 ≦ nB/nA < 0.998 or 1.002 < nB/nA 1.050.
