A short total synthesis of isoprostanes has been achieved using a two-component coupling process combined with a diastereoselective protonation under reagent control. The F-1-isoprostanes were easily obtained by stereoselective reduction of the C-9 keto group. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
Straightforward Syntheses of Phytoprostanes and Dihomo‐phytoprostanes‐Non‐enzymatic Metabolites of γ‐Linolenic, Dihomo‐γ‐linolenic and Stearidonic Acids
New oxylipins from marine biomass. The first total synthesis of oxylipins, metabolites of γ-linolenicacid (GLA), dihomo-γ-linolenicacid (DGLA) and stearidonic acid (SDA) were accomplished. These metabolites are potential biomarkers of oxidative injury in marine biomass and could be involved in the defense mechanisms of these microorganisms.
