    of poly(alkyl methacrylates) were prepared from monomer of high purity and subjected to gamma irradiation. Gelation in the n-alkyl series was detected for poly (n-heptyl methacrylate) at 15 Mreps; gel was detected at lower doses as the length of the alkyl group increased. No gelation was found on irradiation of poly (sec-alkyl methacrylates) to relatively high doses; poly(sec-nonyl methacrylate) remained

    Polymers, particularly those used in pressure-sensitive adhesives, are prepared from a mixture of structural isomers of a secondary alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer. The mixture is made by dehydrating a C2-C22 alcohol using a continuous process to form a mixture of olefins, and reacting (meth)acrylic acid with at least some of the mixture of olefins in the presence of an acid catalyst. The adhesives are characterized by exhibiting an overall balance of adhesive and cohesive characteristics.

    There is provided an article having a release liner and a pressure sensitive adhesive composition disposed along a major surface of the release liner, where the pressure sensitive adhesive composition has at least 50 wt-% of polymerized units derived from alkyl meth(acrylate) monomer(s); and 0.2 to 15 wt-% of at least one crosslinking monomers comprising a (meth)acrylate group and a C 6 -C 20 olefin group, the olefin group being optionally substituted. In another embodiment, an adhesive composition is described comprising a syrup comprising i) a free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer; and ii) a solute (meth)acrylic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from one or more alkyl(meth)acrylate monomers; wherein the syrup comprises at least one crosslinking monomer or the (meth)acrylic solute polymer comprises polymerized units derived from at least one crosslinking monomer, the crosslinking monomer comprising a (meth)acrylate group and a C 6 -C 20 olefin group, the olefin group being optionally substituted.

    The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a vinyl chloride resin composition having exceptional impact resistance, processability, and heat resistance. The present invention provides: a resin composition that contains 3-15 parts by mass of a rubber-based impact-absorbing material and 0.1-10 parts by mass of a modified olefin wax per 100 parts by mass of a vinyl chloride resin. This resin composition satisfies the following requirements (I)-(III). (I) The chlorine content of the vinyl chloride resin is 55-75% by mass. (II) The glass transition temperature (Tg) in differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the rubber-based impact-absorbing material (B) is 0°C or lower. (III) The modified olefin wax contains at least one polar group selected from halogens and carboxylic acid derivatives, and the polar group content is within the range of 0.1-50% by mass.
