Abstract 3-Methyl-2-quinoxalinol dianion was prepared in an excess of lithium diisopropylamide (LDA), condensed with select aliphatic or aromatic esters, a carbamyl chloride, or aliphatic carboxylic acid anhydrides, and the resulting intermediates were quenched to afford new and known 3-substituted-2(1H)-quinoxalinones.
