A simple and versatile one-pot procedure for the in situ generation of nitrilimines from N-acyl hydrazines is described. 1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions and 1,5-electrocyclic ring closures are carried out. Unsymmetrically substituted dipolarophiles show typical regioselectivity.
