An unprecedented coupling of a P-C and a C-C bond-forming event in a practical operation was developed to access medicinally relevant phosphinic structures. The strategy relies on an Ireland-Claisen rearrangement triggered by the phospha-Michael addition of silyl phosphonites to allyl acrylates. This protocol was extended to a more versatile three-component variant that utilizes phosphinic acids, acryloyl chlorides, and allylic alcohols as starting materials.

Different from lithium dialkylcuprates, Cu(II) catalyzed conjugate addition of Grignardreagents to allylic esters of α,β-unsaturated carboxylates has been effected in the presence of TMS-Cl, and the resulting allyl silyl keteneacetals further undergo rearrangement to afford 2-allyl 3-alkyl carboxylic acids in good yields.

A rubber composition having a reduced heat build-up, which comprises (a) 100 wt. parts of an elastomer capable of being crosslinked by an organic peroxide crosslinking agent, (b) 10 - 150 wt. parts of a metal salt of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, (c) 5 to 100 wt. parts of magnesium oxide having a BET specific surface area not larger than 25 m2/g, and (d) 0.1 to 30 wt. parts of an organic peroxide crosslinking agent. A roll having an outer peripheral surface portion composed of a vulcanizate of the rubber composition. The roll has high strengths and reduced heat build-up, and is especially suitable for use under a high load.
The present invention is directed to a polymer blend having improved properties comprising: (A) 90 to 10 % by weight of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin; and (B) 10 to 90 % by weight of a shear-treated rubber obtained by subjecting a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber to a high-shear treatment in the presence of an anti-oxidant so as to lower the Mooney viscosity of the copolymer rubber by 15 units or more, said shear-treated rubber having a Mooney viscosity of 5 to 135, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.0 to 5.0 and a storage stability characterized by that the incremental increase in the Mooney viscosity of said shear-treated rubber during a 30 day storage under an ambient condition in air is not more than 10 units.

[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS]
Disclosed is an oxygen-absorbing resin composition comprising a resin composition (A) that comprises an oxygen-absorbing resin (A1) having a cycloene structure in the molecule and a softener (A2) and has a glass transition temperature of from -30°C to +30°C, as dispersed in a resin (B) having an oxygen permeability of from 100 cc to 500 cc 20 µm/m2·day·atom (25°C, 65 % RH). The softening agent (A2) is preferably liquid paraffin or polybutene. The resin (B) is preferably a (terephthalic acid)/(cyclohexanedimethanol) copolymer polyester or a polyamide resin.
