There are disclosed an industrially favorable process for producing a tetrazole compound of general formula (1):
characterized in that a nitrile of general formula (2):

is reacted with hydrazine or a salt thereof in the presence of a catalyst, followed by reaction with a nitrous acid compound of general formula (3):
ANO₂ (3)
or a nitrile of general formula (2) is reacted with hydrogen sulfide, followed by reaction with an alkyl halide of general formula (4):

with hydrazine or a salt thereof, and then with a nitrous acid compound of general formula (3); and an intermediate of general formula (5):

The present invention relates to a method of determining aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic, primary, secondary or tertiary amines wherein the latter are brought into contact with specific keto compounds, whereby a hemiaminal or a zwitterion is formed reversibly upon contact of the amine with the keto compound. The hemiaminals differ from the parent keto compounds in their light absorption in the ultraviolet, visible or infrared region, or the formation of the hemiaminals is accompanied by the creation or quenching of a fluorescence or luminescence or a variation of a vibration frequency or a variation of conductivity or of any other variation of a physical or chemical effect involved in the transducing process. This method thus allows the determination of amines in various specimens.
A device for determining carbon dioxide in a gaseous or liquid sample, comprises: a polymer matrix eg. ethyl cellulose, polysiloxanes etc. and an indicator embedded in the polymer matrix, wherein the indicator comprises a pH-sensitive dye eg. bromothymol blue, HPTS etc. and a metal cation complex, and wherein an anion of the pH-sensitive dye and the metal cation form a salt which is soluble in the polymer matrix.
The metal cation complex comprises (i) Rb(I), Cs(I) cations, (ii) metal ion-ionophore complexes, eg. K-18-crown-6, else (iii) metal ligand complexes.
