    A copolymer is provided which is capable of providing an article surface with sufficient oil repellency against oils having low surface tensions and which places little burden on the environment. Further, a method for producing such a copolymer, an oil repellent composition containing such a copolymer as an effective component, and an article which is excellent in oil repellency against oils having low surface tensions and which contains no material having high environmental burden, are provided. A copolymer comprising the following polymerized units (a), polymerized units (b), polymerized units (c1) and polymerized units (c2), and an oil repellent composition and article containing it. (a) is polymerized units based on a monomer such as a (meth)acrylate having R1, (b) is polymerized units based on a C6-18 alkyl (meth)acrylate, (c1) is polymerized units based on a monomer having a hydroxy group, and (c2) is polymerized units based on a monomer having a functional group reactive with the hydroxy group in (c1) to form a crosslinked structure.

The composite liquid crystal composition includes, as the liquid crystal compound, a compound having a biphenyl skeleton and two or more compounds represented by Formula (I-a), in which the content of the compound having a biphenyl skeleton is 20% by mass or less of the liquid crystal compounds, and the content of the compound represented by Formula (I-a) in which C1 represents a 1, 4-cyclohexylene group and n1 is not 0 is 45% by mass or more of the liquid crystal compounds; and as the polymerizable compound, one or more compounds selected from the compounds represented by Formulas (II-a1) and (II-a2) and a compound represented by (II-b), in which the total content of the liquid crystal compounds is 65% to 85% by mass, and the total content of the polymerizable compounds is 15% to 35% by mass.

    Presently described are dental compositions comprising one or more fatty mono(meth)acrylates, methods of use, dental articles, and methods of making dental compositions. It has been found that a relatively low concentration of a fatty mono(meth)acrylate can improve the handling characteristics of a dental composition by reducing the tendency of the composition to stick to a dental instrument and/or by reducing the tendency of a dental composition to string when being manipulated by a dental instrument. In one embodiment, a hardenable dental composition is described comprising a polymerizable resin composition comprising at least one multifunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer; 0.2 to 10 wt-% of one or more fatty mono(meth)acrylate monomers; and at least 50 wt-% of inorganic oxide filler.

    A pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided that is a dried product of a latex composition, which is formed from an emulsion composition. The latex composition and the emulsion composition are also provided. The emulsion composition has droplets that contain various monomers plus a (meth)acrylate polymer dissolved in the monomers. Additionally, an article containing a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive and a method of forming the pressure-sensitive adhesive are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesives often have both high peel adhesion and high shear strength (i.e., high cohesive strength or high shear holding power).

    Curable adhesive compositions that can be used to prepare the pressure-sensitive adhesives, and methods of making the pressure-sensitive adhesives are provided. More particularly, the pressure-sensitive adhesives contain (a) a (meth)acrylate copolymer having a weight average molecular weight greater than 500,000 grams/mole (Daltons), (b) a high glass transition temperature (meth)acrylate polymer tackifier having a Tg of at least 5° C. and (c) a low glass transition temperature (meth)acrylate polymer tackifier having a Tg no greater than 0° C. The pressure-sensitive adhesives advantageously are prepared by ultraviolet (UV) curing a curable adhesive composition that contains minimal or no organic solvents.
