    Catalytic compositions and catalytic processes are provided. The catalytic compositions are produced by the process that comprises contacting an organonickel compound with a cyclicazacarbyl compound. Optionally, one or more catalytic promoters can be present in the catalytic compositions. Additionally, one or more olefins can be contacted with one or more of these catalytic compositions to form oligomerization products and/or polymerization products.

    AbstractThree naturally occurring pyrrole acids were found in Sepia, human black hair, and bovine choroid and iris melanosomes using high‐performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry—pyrrole‐2,3‐dicarboxylic acid (PDCA), pyrrole‐2,3,5‐tricarboxylic acid (PTCA) and pyrrole‐2,3,4,5‐tetracarboxylic acid (PTeCA). PDCA and PTCA are common markers quantified from oxidative degradation of eumelanins. Using standards, the amounts of naturally occurring PDCA and PTCA were determined and compared to those obtained following peroxide oxidation of the same samples. Because the naturally occurring acids are water soluble, these results indicate that care must be exercised when comparing PDCA and PTCA yields from the degradation analyses of melanins isolated and prepared by different methods. This work also establishes that PTeCA is a naturally occurring pyrrole acid in melanosomes.

  • Reactions of benzo and dibenzo derivatives of five-membered aromatic heterocycles with ozone in the liquid phase

    The ozonation reactions of benzo and dibenzo derivatives of pyrrole, furan, and thiophene in acetic acid solution have been studied. Peroxide compounds have been detected as the products. The mechanism of ozone interaction with these hetarenes has been proposed. The kinetics of ozonolytic reactions of benzologues of five-membered aromatic heterocycles (hetarenes) have been investigated. The reaction of ozone with the hetarenes obeys the bimolecular rate law and has the first order in each reactant. The effective rate constants and experimental stoichiometric coefficients for ozone have been found.
