Abstract Oxidative cleavage of a variety of electrophilic double bond substrates has been effected under mild reaction conditions by sodium metaperiodate or sodium hypochlorite catalyzed by ruthenium oxide.

Copper-catalyzed coupling of 1,2-dibromo-1-styrenes with sulfonamides for the preparation of ynamides

Ynamides were prepared through an efficient copper-catalyzed coupling reaction. In the presence of copper iodide, 1,10-phenanthroline, and Cs2CO3, the coupling reaction of 1,2-dibromo-1-styrenes with sulfonamides proceeded smoothly and generated the corresponding products with excellent isolated yields. Abstract The discovery of a catalytic effect of sand on the activity of KMnO4/NaIO4 or KMnO4/NaClO oxidant system provides a convenient method for double bond cleavage under mild conditions. An oxidative rearrangement of α-bromostyrene to 2-bromoacetophenone was also observed.
dimerization of terminalalkynes with trichloroacetyl chloride as chlorine donor proceeds in the presence of rhodium catalysts to give (Z,Z)-1,4-dichloro-1,3-butadienes stereoselectively. Ligand screening has revealed that reactions using sterically bulky and electron-donating ligands like trimesitylphosphine are high yielding. The reaction is compatible with a range of functional groups to give the title
