We have developed an efficient ligand‐free copper‐catalyzed regio‐ and stereoselective carbo‐borylation of heteroatom‐substituted internal alkynes using bis(pinacolato)diboron as boron source and alkyl halides as an electrophile. A novel synthetic strategy to alkynyl sulfides via transition-metal-free catalyzed C-S coupling of 1,1-dibromo-1-alkenes with thiophenols has been developed. The new strategy which avoided the transition-metal toxicities is environmental friendly and very important for alkynyl sulfides synthesis. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
