The host molecules of the yellow title compound, 4,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(3-nitrophenyl)-1H-imidazole-ethyl acetate (1/0.33), C23H19N3O4. 1/3C(4)H(8)O(2), (1), are arranged in a cross fashion through intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the N-H and N=C moieties of the imidazole ring. The ethyl acetate guest molecules are arranged in columns along the c axis. By heating under reduced pressure, (1) lost the guest molecules to become the non-solvated analogue, C23H19N3O4, without destruction of the network of host molecules.

A fuel cell fuel contains an organic fuel used as a fuel for a fuel cell. The organic fuel is in a form of a solid molecular compound, such as an inclusion compound. The molecular compound can be prepared by contact catalytic reaction of a compound for forming the molecular compound and the organic fuel, and allows a liquid organic fuel to be in a solid compound to store the organic fuel stably in a relatively lightweight form. The molecular compound easily releases the organic fuel by, for example, heating, and the organic fuel is supplied to the fuel electrode of a fuel cell. Thus, the handleability of the fuel cell fuel containing the organic fuel can be improved, and the problems of corrosion, freezing of the fuel, crossover, and so forth can be solved.
A highly efficient magnetic solid acid catalyst for synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles under ultrasound irradiation

Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by chemical coprecipitation method and subsequently coated with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) via silanization reaction. Grafting of chlorosulfuric acid on the amino-functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles afforded sulfamic acid-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (SA-MNPs). SA-MNPs was found to be a mild and effective solid acid catalyst for the efficient, one-pot, three-component synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles under ultrasound irradiation. This protocol afforded corresponding imidazoles in shorter reaction durations, and in high yields. This green procedure has many obvious advantages compared to those reported in the previous literatures, including avoiding the use of harmful catalysts, easy and quick isolation of the products, excellent yields, short routine, and simplicity of the methodology.
