reduction of peroxides for the synthesis of complex β-hydroxysulfone derivatives from phenthiols and alkenes. This method has several advantageous characteristics, including readily available substrates, low-cost and environmental benign reagents, nontoxic and renewable solvents, and mild reaction conditions. The application of this transformation to the multigram-scale preparation of the anticancer drug bicalutamide

Regioselectivesynthesis of diverse β‐hydroxysulfones is conducted via sulfonylation; the reactions of alkenes with thiosulfonates provided 2° and 3° β‐hydroxysulfones, and the reactions of epoxides with thiosulfonates afforded 1° and 2° β‐hydroxysulfones in good yields.

herein described a dioxygen-triggered β-hydroxysulfonylation of unactivated olefins. The selectivity of the reaction is controlled by DABCO, which acts as a single electron transfer reagent in the reaction. This strategy has the advantages of being metal- and catalyst-free, clean, safe, with readily available unactivated olefin as the substrate, low cost, easy to perform, high atomic efficiency, and not
Aerobic Nickel-Catalyzed Hydroxysulfonylation of Alkenes Using Sodium Sulfinates

Nickel-catalyzed hydroxysulfonylation of alkenes was achieved using sodium sulfinates under air atmosphere. The procedure enabled the selective synthesis of fi-hydroxysulfones in good yields and suppressed the formation of,6-ketosulfones. On the contrary, sulfonylation of alkynes with sodium sulfonates afforded only fl-ketosulfones.
