A new ligand H5L has been synthesized that is composed of a central pyrazole bridging unit with two iminodiacetate chelate arms, thus providing two potentially tetradentate N2O2} binding pockets. Its pentanuclear ferric complex [L2Fe5(μ3-O)2(μ-OH)2(py)2(H2O)2]– (1) was obtained under aerobic conditions and characterized by X-ray crystallography as well as Mosbauer spectroscopy.
