    Irridiation of 2,4,6-tri-t-butyl-3-methoxy-2,5-cyclohexadienone (III) in benzene afforded 3,6-di-t-butylguaiacol (II) and a benzocyclobutene (V) in high yields. The ratio of II to V depends on the wavelength of the incident light and decreases on irradiation with light of shorter wavelengths. Furthermorre, V was formed the faster in the order of the wavelengths of the incidents light: 361 ± 7, 325

Additionally, those polycationic compounds can be used with various anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic agents as well as with radio-therapeutic agents in cancer patients to prevent and treat tumor growth and metastasis.
