We report a convenient single-flask methodology for the preparation of polyazatriaryl products with relevance to luminescence, catalysis, and pharmacology. The diborylation of 1,3-dibromobenzenes and double Suzuki-Miyaura coupling produces 1,3-diheteroarylbenzenes. Similarly, borylation of heteroaryl halides and double coupling to 2,6-clichloropyridine produces 2,6-diheteroarylpyridines. This methodology appears general in producing challenging polyheteroaryl targets as long as the boronic esters have no ortho heteroatoms and coupling avoids adjacent oxygens. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. A metal-complex compound which comprises a tridentate chelate ligand having a specified partial structure. An organic electroluminescence device which comprises one or more organic thin film layers having at least one light emitting layer sandwiched between a pair of electrodes, wherein the organic thin film layer comprises the metal-complex compound, which emits light by applying an electric voltage between the pair of electrodes. The present invention provides an organic EL device which emits blue light of high purity and of short wavelength together with a metal-complex compound realizing the organic EL device.

Synthesis of platinum(II) di(2-pyrazolyl)benzene chloride and analogs includes forming a 1,3-di-substituted benzene including two aromatic five-membered heterocycles, and reacting the 1,3-di-substituted benzene with an acidic platinum-containing solution to form a luminescent platinum(II) complex. The luminescent platinum(II) complex is capable of emitting blue and white light and can be used as an emitter in a light emitting device.
