Solid state and solution fine tuning of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of (2-pyrene-1-yl-vinyl)pyridine by protonation–deprotonation reactions
The unexpected and acido-triggered reversible luminescence and nonlinear optical properties of (2-pyrene-1-yl-vinyl)pyridine, a simple and highly transparent chromophore, are studied both in solution and in the solid state. Remarkably, for the first time the acidomodulation of the NLO response of a poled thin film is reported.
detecting mitochondrialviscosity in livingcells and tissue, as well as monitoring apoptosis process. Significantly, considering numerous breast cancer cases in every country of the world, NP was successfully applied to distinguish human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) from normal cells (MCF-10A) by difference in fluorescence intensity originated from abnormality in mitochondrialviscosity. All the results
An amphiphilicderivative with a large Stokes shift by introducing flexible hydrophilic long chains into a rigid ethylene-pyrene compound have been successfully synthesized. The alkylated compound exhibited a notable change in charge distribution, facilitating cation- interactions. Through the process of amphiphilic self-assembly, the formation of highly ordered aggregates enabled effective photo-dimerization

with a 1:1 mixture of the constituting components. This contrasting behavior has been interpreted taking into consideration the difference in the entropy change associated with the complexation process. Based on the effect of solventpolarity on the absorption and emission behavior of the complex and taking into consideration the molecular geometry, it is concluded that the interaction between the aromatic
