    The present invention relates to a reusable print medium comprising a substrate and a sacrificial layer. The sacrificial layer contains a hotmelt composition at least comprising an amorphous material. The amorphous material is a resin being a reaction product of a first monomer A, said first monomer A being a polyhydroxyl alcohol comprising X hydroxyl functional groups, wherein X≧2, monomer A optionally comprises a primary or secondary amine functionality; a second monomer B, being an aromatic monocarboxylic acid; a third monomer C, said third monomer C being able to form an ester linkage with an alcohol and/or an amide linkage with a primary or secondary amine; and optionally, a fourth monomer D, being an aromatic monocarboxylic acid different from the second monomer B. The sacrificial layer including the printed image may be removed from the substrate by applying heat. A new sacrificial layer may be applied such that the reusable print medium is ready to be reused. The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a reusable print medium according to the present invention, a method of printing and recycling such a print medium and an apparatus for printing and recycling such a print medium.

    The present invention provides a polyurethane comprising a polyester diol component, an organic diisocyanate component and a chain extender component, 30 mole % or more of dicarboxylic acid units constituting said polyester diol being units from 3,8-dimethyldecanedioic acid unit and/or units from 3,7-dimethyldecanedioic acid unit, said polyester diol having a number-average molecular weight of 500 to 6000; a molded article comprising the same; a polyurethane fiber comprising the same; and said polyester diol. The present invention provides a process for producing a dimethyldecanedioic acid represented by the general formula (II)         HOOC-CH₂-CH(CH₃)-CH₂-CH₂-CH₂-CH(A)-CH(B)-CH₂-COOH     (II) wherein either of A and B represents a methyl group and the rest represents a hydrogen atom, which comprises oxidizing a dimethyldecanedial represented by the general formula (I)         OHC-CH₂-CH(CH₃)-CH₂-CH₂-CH₂-CH(A)-CH(B)-CH₂-CHO     (I) wherein either of A and B represents a methyl group and the rest represents a hydrogen atom. The present invention provides a dimethyldecanedial represented by the general formula (I). Furthermore, the present invention provides a process for producing a dimethyldecanedial represented by the general formula (I), comprising hydroformylating a diolefin represented by the general formula (III)         CH₂=C(CH₃)-CH₂-CH₂-CH₂-CH(A)-CH(B)=CH₂     (III) wherein either of A and B represents a methyl group and the rest represents a hydrogen atom. The polyurethane of the present invention is superior in various properties such as resistance to hydrolysis, heat resistance, resistance to hot water, cold resistance, fungal resistance and mechanical performances e.g., strength at break and elongation at break, as well as injection moldability. The polyurethane fiber of the present invention is superior in heat resistance, resistance to hot water, cold resistance and resistance to hydrolysis, and is dyeable under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. Furthermore, it is superior, after dyeing, in tensile strength and elongation, elastic recovery, fungal resistance, resistance to chlorine and color fastness. The dimethyldecanedial of the present invention is useful as a raw material of production of the dimethyldecanedioic acid represented by the general formula (II). Furthermore, the polyester diol containing the dimethyldecanedioic acid as a dicarboxylic acid component, shows excellent resistance to hydrolysis and is useful as a raw material for producing high-performance polyurethanes.
