Moderated and mild way for synthesizing N‐substituted pyrrole has been demonstrated herein. No solvents need to be used for this reaction, and instead, reactants themselves acted as a reaction medium. In fact, the reaction is carried out using catalytic amount of Ca(NO3)2.4H2O. A new Ru(L)(dcbpy)(NCS)2 dye containing a pyrrole-based Ï-extended ligand has been prepared and showed very good light harvesting ability with near 70% IPCE in the visible region. The performance is very close to those of the standard N3 with a wider absorption range.
