Direct nucleophilic displacement of halide X (X=Cl or I) takes place when the compounds (Me3Si)3CSiRR′X with R=Me, R′=(C6H4Me-p), (C6H4OMe-p), CH2CH R=Bu, R′=Cl, or R=Ph, R′=Ph are treated with solutions of KOCN, KSCN, KCN, or NaN3 in CH3CN or MeOH, and H2O in DMSO, or CH3CN.
