  (EN) A composition for topical application includes a hydroxyalkanoate derivative having structure (I), where R1 represents H- or acyl, R2 represents alkyl of at least 2 carbon atoms, R3 represents H-, alkyl, substituted or interrupted alkyl or a metallic, ammonium or alkanolammonium counterion. The hydroxyalkanoate derivative penetrates deeply into the skin and undergoes cleavage by enzymes in the skin to liberate the corresponding hydroxyalkanoate which benefits skin condition.(FR) Une composition destinée à une application topique comprend un dérivé d'hydroxyalcanoate de la structure (I), dans laquelle R1 représente H- ou acyle, R2 représente alkyle contenant au moins 2 atomes de carbone, R3 représente H-, alkyle, alkyle substitué ou interrompu ou un contre-ion d'alcanolammonium d'ammonium ou métallique. Ce dérivé d'hydroxyalcanoate pénètre profondément dans la peau et subit un clivage sous l'action des enzymes de la peau afin de libérer l'hydroxyalcanoate correspondant, ce qui produit un effet bénéfique sur la peau.
