Thiophene‐substituted vinylsulfoxides and vinylsulfones were prepared by acid‐catalyzed dehydration of the corresponding 2‐hydroxysulfoxides and 2‐hydroxysulfones. Structural determination of the Z and E stereoisomers was done by 1H‐NMR and, for the E‐isomer of (methyl)[2‐phenyl‐2‐(2‐thienyl)vinyl]sulfoxide, by X‐ray crystallography of a pure sample obtained by fractional crystallization followed by
