The reduction of a dithienylbenzobisthiadiazole derivative TBBT can be performed selectively so as to afford either [1,2,5]-thiadiazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline (TQ) or pyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline (PQ) derivatives.
