The synthesis of phenanthridinones and carbazoles by intramolecular photo- and Base-promoted Homolityc Aromatic Substitution photo-BHAS) reaction from N-(2-halobenzyl)-N-methylanilines or N-substituted-N-phenyl anilines is presented.
