An efficient one-pot, three-component synthesis of vinyl sulfones via iodide-catalyzed radical alkenylation using aryl diazonium salts, terminal alkenes and DABSO is reported. This protocol offers good yields and tolerates a broad range of functional groups. Based on the extensive control experiments, we propose a plausible radical mechanism. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
