K2S2O8/I2promoted C–S coupling reaction of β-diketone with disulfide has been described. The resulting α-thio-β-diketones compounds were obtained in good to excellent yields.

A small series of new 3,5‐dimethyl‐4‐(arylsulfanyl)pyrazoles have been synthesized in good to excellent yields by a grinding‐induced, sequential one‐pot three‐component reaction, of an equimolar mixture of 3‐chloro‐2,4‐pentanedione, differently substituted thiophenols, and hydrazine hydrate in the presence of piperidine under solvent‐free conditions.
Metal free sulfenylation of active methylene compounds and indole: TBATB mediated synthesis

The present work addresses a development of metal free one pot direct method for sulfenylation of active methylene compounds and indole. The reaction might proceed through sulfenyl bromide as an intermediate, which initiates the C-S bond formation. The reaction was performed using tetrabutylammonium tribromide (TBATB) as a brominating agent, CH2Cl2 as a solvent at room temperature. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
