A simple and convenient synthesis of optically active alkenyl beta-hydroxy sulfides with high enantiomeric excess by CBS-oxazaborolidine-catalyzed borane reduction of the corresponding beta-keto sulfides and its application to synthesis of chiral alkenic diols have been established.
