Abstract The monoimines of several 9,10-phenanthrenequinones and 1,2-naphthoquinone form 1:1 adducts with copper(I) chloride and chloro(pyridine)copper(I). The complexes [CuCl(imine)] (4,7) and [CuCl(py)imine] (3, 6) are insoluble in acetonitrile and decompose in pyridine to [CuCl(py) 3 ] and the corresponding monoimines.
