The first stable dimercaptoborane, TbtB(SH)(2) (I), was synthesized by the sulfurization of the corresponding overcrowded lithium aryltrihydroborate bearing a 2,4,6-tris[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]phenyl (Tbt) group. Dilithiation of 1 followed by treatment with Cp(2)TiCl(2) resulted in the isolation of a novel metallacycle, 1,3,2,4-dithiaboratitanetane 2, as stable red crystals. Molecular structures of the novel organoboron compounds I and 2 were both determined by X-ray crystal-lographic analysis.
