  t-BOC-p-Dimethylphosphonomethyl-L-phenylalanine has been prepared and incorporated into a peptide sequence corresponding to angiotensin I. Demethylation of the dimethylphosphonomethyl moiety then yielded a peptide containing a p-phosphonomethyl-L-phenylalanine residue.
