PREPARATION, CHARACTERISATION, AND SPECTROSCOPIC STUDIES OF HOMO- AND HETEROBIMETALLIC PINACOLATE DERIVATIVES OF ALKALINE EARTH METALS

Reactions of insoluble metal glycolates of the type M {OCMe2CMe2OH)}(2)(M = Mg,Ca,Sr,Ba) with Al(OPr-i)(3) in 1:2 molar ratio in C6H6 afford hydrocabon-soluble heterobimetallic pinacolate derivatives [{Al(OPr-i)(2)}(2)- M(OCMe2CMe2O)(2)]. All of these derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements, and spectroscopic [IR, NMR (H-1, C-13, Al-27)] studies.
