The reactions of Grignard reagents with methyl 2-acetamidoacrylate in the presence of CuI give fair to good yields of α-amino esters; the corresponding α-deutero- or α-methyl-derivatives are obtained upon quenching with D+ or CH3I, respectively.

Provided herein are palladium complexes comprising a ligand of Formula (Α') and a ligand of Formula (B), wherein R1-R18 are as defined herein. The palladium complexes are useful in methods of fluorinating aryl and heteroaryl substrates. Further provided are compositions and kits comprising the palladium complexes.

The racemic TF-BIPHAM was resolved for the first time, and the effectiveness of the resolved diamine was demonstrated by highly enantioselective hydrogenation of alpha-aryl enamides and (x-dehydroamino acid esters using readily accessible bis(aminophosphine) ligands.
