  The stereocontrolled synthesis of methyl 5(E)-epoxyeicosa-7-ynoate (7) and its conversion to a 7,8-acetyleno-LTD analog is described. Chiral acetyleno-LTA analogs are prepared following a novel and versatile “one pot” procedure from 5(S)-benzoyloxy-5-formylpentanoate (3).
