  The first synthesis of 1-methyl-15-hydroxy-20-deethyldasycarpidone has been achieved via acid-induced cyclization of the 4-hydroxy-4-indolylcarbonyl-2-piperidinecarbonitrile which in turn are obtained by a modified Polonovski reaction. The formation of lactams 6 and 7 in the acid cyclization conditions are reported for the first time.
