    To provide a temperature responsive polymer that has an arbitrary LCST in a wide temperature range of from a low temperature range of body temperature or room temperature to a high temperature range of 80°C or more, and to provide a method capable of providing the polymer easily. An alkenyl ether-vinyl ester copolymer containing a repeating unit derived from a hydroxyl group-containing alkenyl ether represented by the formula (1), and a repeating unit derived from a vinyl ester represented by the formula (2), and exhibiting temperature responsiveness showing a change in hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity at a prescribed temperature as a critical point, and the alkenyl ether-vinyl ester copolymer that has a lower critical solution temperature to water of from 1°C to 99°C: wherein R1, R2, and R3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having a number of carbon atoms of from 1 to 4; R4 represents a linear or branched alkylene group having a number of carbon atoms of from 2 to 4; R5 represents an acyl group having a number of carbon atoms of from 1 to 20; and p represents an integer of from 1 to 3.

    Provided are novel methods for producing a fluoropolymer. The disclosure relates to a method for producing a fluoropolymer by solution polymerization or dispersion polymerization, the method including: in the presence of an initiator, a chain transfer agent, and a solvent, (i) homopolymerizing tetrafluoroethylene; or (ii) randomly copolymerizing tetrafluoroethylene and at least one of a monomer represented by the following formula (1) or a monomer represented by the following formula (2), the chain transfer agent including at least one selected from the group consisting of dithioester compounds, dithiocarbamate compounds, trithiocarbonate compounds, and xanthate compounds, the fluoropolymer containing 50 to 100 mol% of a polymerized unit based on the tetrafluoroethylene,         the formula (1):     CF2=CR1R2 wherein R1 is H or F; R2 is -Cl, -Ra, -COORb, -OCORc, -CONRd2, -CN, -CORe, or -Rfa; Ra, Rb, Rc, Rd, and Re are the same as or different from each other and are each H or a substituent; Rfa is the same as or different from each other and is an optionally substituted fluorine-containing alkyl group, an optionally substituted fluorine-containing vinyl group, or an optionally substituted fluorine-containing alkoxy group, each group optionally containing an oxygen atom between carbon atoms; and R1 and R2 optionally bind to each other to form a ring,         the formula (2):     CH2=CR3R4 wherein R3 is Rg, CF3, or F; R4 is -Cl, -Rh, -COORi, -OCORj, -CONRk2, -CN, -CORm, or Rfc; Rg and Rh are the same as or different from each other and are each H, an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group, or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group; Ri, Rj, Rk, and Rm are the same as or different from each other and are each H or a substituent; Rfc is the same as or different from each other and is an optionally substituted fluorine-containing alkyl group, an optionally substituted fluorine-containing vinyl group, or an optionally substituted fluorine-containing alkoxy group, each group optionally containing an oxygen atom between carbon atoms; and R3 and R4 optionally bind to each other to form a ring.

    To provide a method for producing a polymer that is capable of providing an alkenyl ether polymer having a molecular weight, a molecular weight distribution, and a composition that are controlled, with a vinyl ether having a hydroxyl group, and a block copolymer thereof. To provide a polymer obtained by the method as a macro chain transfer agent capable of performing reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. Livingness can be imparted to radical polymerization of a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether by performing the radical polymerization in the presence of a particular RAFT agent and a radical polymerization initiator, and a block copolymer with another radically polymerizable vinyl monomer can be obtained by using the resulting living polymer as a macro chain transfer agent capable of performing reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization.

    An alkenyl ether-vinyl ester copolymer contains a repeating unit derived from a hydroxyl group-containing alkenyl ether represented by the following formula (1), and a repeating unit derived from a vinyl ester represented by the following formula (2): where R1, R2, and R3 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R4 represents a linear or branched alkylene group having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms; R5 represents an acyl group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and p represents an integer of from 1 to 3. The alkenyl ether-vinyl ester copolymer exhibits temperature responsiveness showing a change in hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity at a prescribed temperature as a critical point and has a lower critical solution temperature to water of from 1° C. to 99° C.
