  The complexes [Ru(SCN)(2)(PPh(3))(2)(L)(2)], where L = py and gamma-pic, and [Ru(SCN)(2)(PPh(3))(2)(L)], where L = py-2-CH(2)NH(2) and py-2-CH(2)O, have been prepared and studied by IR, NMR, EPR, UV-Vis spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The complexes were prepared in the reactions of [RuCl(2)(PPh(3))(3)] with pyridine, gamma-picoline, 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine and 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine in methanol solutions. The electronic structures of the obtained compounds have been calculated using the DFT/TD-DFT method. (c) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
