    A process for producing a polybutadiene, which comprises polymerizing 1,3-butadiene in an inert organic solvent with a catalyst comprising (A) a cobalt compound, (B) an organoaluminum compound consisting essentially of an aluminoxane and, if necessary, (C) a tertiary phosphine compound, (D) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an ester compound, an alcohol compound, a phenolic compound, a sulfoxide compound, a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound, water and a tertiary amine compound and (E) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of carbon disulfide, a xanthogen compound and a thioisocyanide. By this process, there can be produced, as desired, a cis-1,4-polybutadiene, a 1,2-polybutadiene having a desired vinyl content, a crystalline 1,2-polybutadiene or a polybutadiene containing crystalline 1,2-polybutadiene segments.

    The 1,2-polybutadiene of the present invention, the 1,2- bond content in butadiene unit is 70% by weight or more, a melting point is in a range of 50-140°C, the viscosity η measured with a slit die rheometer at a shear rate of 5113sec-1 is in a range of 400-1200 poises at 120°C in a range of 300-1000 poises at 150°C, and in a range of 200-800 poises at 180°C, and a total halogen content is 30ppm and less. When this is molded at a high temperature, a problem of the mold contamination, the thermal deterioration and change in the physical properties with time is improved, the molded article has the excellent properties such as the moldability, the transparency, the mechanical strength property, the wet skid resistance and the like, and is suitably used as a thermoplastic elastomer such as industrial parts and various molded articles such as footwears, various sheets, films and the like. In addition, 1,2-polybutadiene of the present invention has a molding temperature of about 15°C, being low among thermoplastic elastomers, and is also advantageous in respect of the energy. In addition, since 1,2-polybutadiene of the present invention can be vulcanized, and is excellent in a degree of the peroxide cross-linking activity and the filling property for a filler and a drug, it can be utilized as a vulcanizing rubber, or as a reaction aid for other vulcanizing rubbers. In addition, the thermoplastic elastomer composition of the present invention contains other thermoplastic elastomer and the aforementioned 1,2-polybutadiene and, when this is molded, the excellent nature such as moldability, the molded article appearance and the scratch resistance is exhibited.

    Disclosed are oil-extended 1,2-polybutadiene containing an extender oil in a specific amount based on 1, 2-polybutadiene and a production method thereof, and a composition further containing another (co)polymer, a foaming agent, a crosslinking agent, a softening agent and other additives. The resulting oil-extended 1,2-polybutadiene and the composition thereof has excellent functions characterizing conventional 1,2-polybutadiene and is further excellent in wear resistance, fluidity (processability), coloring properties (high distinctness of images), flexibility, attachability and the like, so that they can be applied to various formed articles, shoe sole materials and laminate having high performances.

    A resin molded article which is a molded article obtained by irradiating a resin molded article containing 100 to 60 parts by weight of (A) syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having a crystallinity of 5% or more and 0 to 40 parts by weight of (B) another thermoplastic polymer with an electron beam, in which the 50% stress of the molded article after the electron beam irradiation (50% M: M2) is from 1.01 to 2.5 times the 50% stress before the electron beam irradiation (50% M: M1), and the molded article has steam sterilization resistance. The molded article is excellent in flexibility and hardness, excellent in steam sterilization resistance, and useful for medical applications such as an infusion tube, an infusion solution container, a catheter and the like.
