ruthenium–carbene complex has been covalently immobilized on ionic magneticnanoparticles utilizing an imidazolium salt linker. The supported catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic activity for ring-closing metathesis (RCM) and cross-metathesis (CM) in the presence of less than 1 mol % of ruthenium.
