coumarin derivatives from the easily available 4-hydroxycoumarins, is reported. The synthesis was based on conventional tosylation followed by a tandem selena-Michael addition/β-elimination reaction of an aryl-/benzyl-selenolate anion on the corresponding 4-tosyloxycoumarins.
