  An Adhesive composition for us in surgery, especially ophthalmic surgery, comprises a mixture of a cyanoacrylate of general formula (I) and an acrylate compound of formula (II) where R4 is an alkylene group and Y is a cycloalkyl group or Y═OR where R═H or acryloyl.
